Abstract

Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the Turkish-Iranian competition over energy sources in the Middle East region. The researcher used the inductive approach and the approach of the international system. The inductive approach is based primarily on the perspective of tracking the phenomenon, observing it, and collecting its data in an effort to reach general principles and comprehensive relationships that serve the subject of the study. The research dealt with three main axes: the first: energy sources in Turkey, the second: energy sources in Iran, and the third: competition over energy sources between Turkey and Iran in the Middle East region. The study reached several results, the most important of which are: relations between Turkey and Iran were characterized by competition at times and coordination and cooperation at other times, as each has its own agenda and regional project. Syria was a major center of competition between Turkey and Iran, as Syria is distinguished by its geopolitical position in the Middle East, making it a link between the regions of the Arabian Peninsula rich in energy sources and Europe, on the one hand and on the other hand. Syria is considered a vital passage through which gas and oil flow to Europe. Iraq was also one of the most important arenas of confrontation between Turkey and Iran in the field of energy.
